Rich Renken is a Product Manager for Gibson and a Recording and Mixing Engineer, and that’s just a drop in the bucket for a guy who has spent a lifetime in music. Starting out at a young age playing bass and mixing live sound (self taught), he played in several bands before coming out to LA to be discovered. After enrolling in Dick Grove School of Music for bass and engineering, he worked as a luthier, building bespoke electric guitars with the renowned James Tyler for rock stars around town. He worked on mixing and recording projects with everyone from Def Leppard to James Brown, formed close bonds with producer/engineers like Bryan Carlstrom (Alice in Chains, Offspring) and was asked to join Line 6 as a Product Manager/Artist Relations, helping to create and promote some of their best selling products. He’s learned a lot over his career in the music industry, and believes that everything leads to something – and with relationships in music, things come around full circle.
